The rutting season is just kicking off again round my part of the world, I went to New Forest today more to take some Autumn/ fall shots, but colour has still not fuly started to change there, further west you go, later it is I think.
But I was lucky in seeing probably the best sightings I have had of deer, I went in some parts of the Forest I have not been before, thanks to my trusty IPhone motion x mapper program, I think I will pop back in a couple of weeks to wander round some more.
Probably my last UK entry for a while. went out walking in the New forest in Hampshire today near to me, in an effort to try and rekindle my lack of enthusiasm for camera use. Saw loads of animals and birds today, jays, tits, woodpeckers, and half a dozen does and a couple of stags, sadly all saw me or rather heard my heavy boots, just before I saw them so only shots of animals behinds shooting into the ruff, but none the less a beautiful morning to be out walking.
And just to finish the walk off, what better way than a steak and ale pie, with a pint of beer.. The Swan Inn just before Lyndhurst at the Emery Down turning well worth a visit.
I went out this morning to the New Forest, a large area near me, as the name suggests, a forest hoping to seem some red deer at this time of the year, normally the rut is in full swing, but to be sure it was very quiet to what is has been in past years.
But never the less, with such a lovely morning it didn’t really matter as the weather was great, had a chat to a couple of photographers also looking for deer shots. But came across some things I haven`t seen before so was pleased, saw the pigs as above, mother out with young looking for acorns, something I was not expecting. Also saw some nice bird life, a woodpecker also the smaller birds are long tailed tits, I did not know that someone told me .
I will try once more to nip down to the forest hopefully to see some more deer, but one of those places you can visit any time of the year, have a look at the web site if you have not visited it before.
New Forest Walk 05/07/08
Today we were promised rain, so i thought a quick stroll out to my favourite place near my home, the New Forest, as it happened the day turned out to be beautiful blue skies most of the day and great light were I went walking. My favourite place in the Forest is Rhienfield ornamental walk.
The light today was just brilliant and I took some pleasing photo`s and for me to say that is odd. I decided during my walk, as it was the first time for what seems likes ages that I could be alone with my thoughts, that I would start my own photographic movement and call it the realism movement, what I thought this could be, is that when you take a shot, you don`t then go home spend 2 hours in photoshop changing ever colour and piece of information in the shot, bumping colour saturation so high it looks unreal.
But when u see a nice imagine in your eye you set your camera up and shoot it. Mother nature created some great places, I have never yet seen a black and white country side? never will, if i do maybe I`ll take a picture of it, put a huge frame round it in PS and call it art, till then I think I`ll stick to recording natural beautiful country side, must be getting old.
Never did go in for arty shots, or horizons that slope down hill for effect. Amazing the way the brain chats away to its self when your alone, I think some call it insanity, so I`m close to the edge But I carried on my way on this loverly day, chasing the light back and forward through the forest, wondered why I saw hardly any one during my walk couple of runners, guy looking for a lost dog. I think the reason was that the ice cream van was in the car park, people seemed to get out their car, munch, then go home.. how sad..
Have put a quick selection of some here New Forest walk; if u have it, best viewed in piclens
