Cats protect competition

Photo Competition

It’s time to get snapping as we launch our annual Photo Competition, in search of the UK’s best amateur cat photos.

Whether it’s a perfect portrait of puss; your fabulous feline with his friend or a superb snap of your marvellous moggy in action, we are looking forward to receiving your snaps. This year’s competition has the following four categories:

  • Perfect portrait2007 Winner - Gilby
Whether the subject is being cute, inquisitive or up to mischief, this category is for pictures that perfectly capture the character of your cat
  • My feline friend
Challenge the perception that dogs are ‘man’s best friend’ with this category; we’re looking for snaps that portray the friendship between a person and their pet
  • Animal magic
Is your cat the best of friends with another animal? Whether it’s
another cat, a dog or even a horse, this is the category for you
  • In action or inaction
Whether they’re asleep, on the prowl or running around like there’s no tomorrow, there are plenty of activities that cats excel in – catch these on camera!

As well as prizes for the winner of each of these categories and
runners up, there is also the excellent incentive of a voucher for £500 worth of photographic equipment for the overall winner.
Entries will be judged on how well they answer the brief, their technical quality and visual impact. Good luck!

You have until 17 October to get your entries to us, so download an entry form and submit your photos today! Full details and the competition rules are also available to download below.

Bandhavgarh & Kanha National Parks

Jess & I visited the 2 National parks at Bandhavgarh and Kanha over the Christmas period. Bandhavgarh Vulture I stayed at 2 resorts at the parks both run by Mogli Resorts, both resorts were very clean and well equipped, Bandhavgarh was the newer of the 2 resorts, and was still to a certain degree finding its feet, with staff building the resort`s features, but was still well equipped for a resort hotel. Cottages were clean and tidy, good showers and all a western traveller would want from a resort. Price was very competitive, and the resort handled all bookings and arrangements for the reserve. If you visit Bandhavgarh make sure you visit the fort, I found it one of the most remarkable things I have seen for some time to watch the vulcher flying below me, an amazing sight. Sadly though I only saw 2 tigers, for fleeting sightings, but still an amazing site, would have been nice to see them longer and to have time to take better photo`s, but maybe a better time to visit would be in the spring when tigers are more active, and the tourists are not.
