Mozilla Delivers Firefox 3.6 to Millions of Users

Mozilla, a public-benefit organization dedicated to promoting choice and innovation on the Web, today released Firefox® 3.6, an update to its popular, free and open source Web browser. The latest version of Firefox introduces cutting-edge features, support for a wide variety of Web standards, and access to more than 6,000 free add-ons that allow users to customize their browser to their liking.

Firefox 3.6 is more than 20 percent faster than Firefox 3.5 and includes extensive under the hood work to improve performance for everyday Web tasks such as email, uploading photos, social networking, and more. What’s New Under the Hood for Developers

  • Support for the latest HTML5 specification, including the File API for local file handling
  • Font Support: In addition to OpenType and TrueType fonts, 3.6 now supports the new Web Open Font Format (WOFF)
  • CSS gradients: Supports linear and radial CSS gradients which allow for a smoother transition between colors
  • Device orientation: Firefox 3.6 exposes the orientation of the laptop or device to Web pages

Wildlife photographer of the year winner disqualified

Storybook wolf just a bit too much of a story

In response to a lot of disquiet about the winning image of the 2009 Wildlife Photographer of the Year, The judging panel was reconvened; they concluded that it was likely that the wolf featured in the image was an animal model that can be hired for photographic purposes and, as a result, that the image had been entered in breach of Rule 10 of the Competition.

Many independent observers thought the shot just too perfect, implying that it had been staged, and even that the wolf was not a wild animal.

No new winner to be chosen

Quick post best and worst buys of 2009..


Worst – battery pack for my IPhone from these people Mophie its  a battery pack for my IPhone, at first worked great then after less than a couple of months it started falling to bits, and bits fell off, contacted the company they were great send me a new one, free of charge, got it through amazed at the quickness, and I`ll be blowed it didn’t work?? go figure, must sort out  a replacement this year, some thing more reliable..


Best buy, my camera bag, guy in LCE in Portsmouth showed it to me sold me on it, got the best price I could for it and got it, with out doubt a bargain it s a Kata Bag and is a dream to use, and holds every thing except the kitchen sink.. look here very recommended by me.
