Moonlight Walk

Rowans Hospice Moonlit Memories Walk ~ Saturday 19th June 2010

Great walk last night for Rowans Hospice charity, over 2000 of us trudging round to raise money, I managed to get round in a pleasing 3 hours 5 mins, not bad for me for 12 miles, route below..

This will be the 3rd Rowans Hospice Moonlit Memories Walk and it is hoped that 2,500 people will take part in walking the course to raise much needed funds, and having fun with friends and family at the same time. In 2009 walkers raised over £340,000 for the Hospice.

Rowans Hospice depends on just under £10,000 in donations a day to provide the free care for patients with life-limiting illness resident in Portsmouth and South-East Hants, their relatives and carers.

The walk, which starts at midnight, is sponsored by Biscoes and is open to men and women over the age of 16. The route starts and finishes at Southsea common, pass along Southsea Seafront, into the Historic Dockyard and on into Old Portsmouth.

En-route the Spinnaker Tower, Southsea Seafront and HMS Victory will all be illuminated, there will also be entertainers to help guide you through the walk.

Sunday walk

Followed the Meon valley walk Sunday 18th April, part on the Meon valley walk, part on the south downs track was a nice walk, sunny all the way, really good leg stretcher bout 14 miles just under, at the start I walked up from Fareham to Knowle what was a little village at one time, big hospital mainly mental patents guess that`s not pc but hey-ho, but the sad thing was I haven`t walked this way for some years, and it`s mostly now a housing estate, but they have kept this sad little graveyard that belonged to the hospital, now it looks more a woodland, but struck me sad, all these unnamed graves.

Then walking on up I went through Wickham, and on to Droxford, white flowers are I believe wood sorrel, following the old rail line is nice you see bits of the old line about and some water arches for the trains, look at the map you cans see I ended up at Warnford, were we have watercress beds, hence the old name really of the railway line, the watercress line..

TPE for iPhone has arrived! A favourite of photographers around the world, TPE gives you all the tools you need to plan outdoor photography shoots, be it landscape, cityscape, wildlife or architecture.

Click here to find out about TPE for iPhone in the App Store.

TPE for Desktop remains available free of charge – see the download links to the right.

What’s it about?

The Photographer’s Ephemeris (TPE) is a tool to help with the planning of all types of outdoor photography, but particularly landscape and urban scenes.

It is a map-centric sun and moon calculator: see how the light will fall on the land.

TPE’s map-based approach means you are not limited to a predefined list of locations, which often don’t include the places many photographers go. Instead, search for any place name on the planet or position the map pin exactly where you want it.

Advanced features including automatic time zone and elevation detection, correction for atmospheric refraction and height above the horizon, ensuring that you have the best possible information for planning your shoot.

You can even determine when the sun or moon will be visible behind nearby hills and mountains.

Key features of TPE for iPhone:

- Time and direction of sunrise and sunset
- Time and direction of moonrise and moonset
- Phase of the moon and % illumination
- Times of civil, nautical and astronomical twilight
- Graphical display on a map
- Save any location you want – no fixed lists
- Automatic time zone detection for any location on earth
- Determines elevation above sea level
- View azimuth and altitude of sun/moon for any time of day/night
- Distance, bearing and elevation angle between any two points
- Find when the sun/moon will appear from behind a hill
- Compensation for atmospheric refraction
- Compensation for elevation above the horizon
- Does not require network connection for rise/set times and azimuths. (Note: maps and elevation do require a data connection)
