Climate talks

So as all the major player`s wander off to all their free lunches and endless talks at the fifteenth United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, don`t you just wonder why there have been 14 of them all ready? Don`t you just feel that the whole world is as we all know controlled by money and not common sense that we hurtle towards the destruction of our beautiful planet. On the UN page it`s say`s :-

“The United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen (COP 15) will be a turning point in the fight to prevent climate disaster. The science demands it, the economics support it, future generations require it. In early December, negotiators, ministers and world leaders will assemble in the Danish capital to give the people of all nations a strong answer to this common, global threat of climate change.”

Yea right? talk talk talk talk talk, yet again that`s all that will happen.

All peoples from different nations are pulled this way and that by the idiots that run our countries, interested not in the good of man but in there own wealth, the latest troubles in the UK over MP`s greed on lining their own pockets reflect this.

So in Copenhagen over the coming days I`m sure a lot will be said, a lot written down, huge amounts of trees cut down to write down how the politicians will turn around the sad state the world is in, all I can say is enjoy our great planet now, hug a tree, and look at  a puffin flying cos for future generations they may not be there..

Total solar eclipse on July 22, 2009

NEW DELHI – A total solar eclipse of longest duration in 21st century will occur on Wednesday morning (July 22).

This eclipse is of special interest for the scientists and general public as its path of totality passes through thickly populated regions of west, central, east and north-east India.

Consequently, it provides a rare opportunity to view and study this grand spectacle of nature. The partial phase of the eclipse will be visible throughout the country.

In general, the partial phase can be seen in the regions of eastern Asia and Pacific Ocean.

Considering the Earth as a whole, the eclipse begins at 5:28 a.m. when the shadow of the Moon touches the Earth at local sunrise at a point in the Arabian Sea close to the western coast of India.

The eclipse ends at 10:42 a.m. when Moon’s shadow finally leaves the Earth at local sunset at a point in the South Pacific Ocean.

At approximately 6:23 a.m., the central path of the eclipse will touch the Earth at sunrise at a point in the Gulf of Khmbhat in the Arabian Sea near the southern coast of Gujarat.

At this time, the path of totality will be about 200 km wide and the duration of totality at the central line will be about three minute 30 seconds.

The shadow crosses over central India, passes through south-east of Nepal, crosses North Bengal, southern part of Sikkim, most of Bhutan and north-western tip of Bangladesh. Then the shadow enters Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, touches Myanmar and enters China.

The umbra sweeps over China, enters East China Sea and then passes through Japan’s Ryukyu Island.

The maximum duration of totality of 6 minutes 44 seconds occurs at 8:05 a.m. in the North Pacific Ocean where the width of the path is about 258 km. The ‘rest of the path does not pass through major land areas.

It curves south-east through Pacific Ocean hitting some small atolls in the Polynesia. The totality ends at 9:48 a.m.when the umbral cone leaves the Earth at a point in the Pacific Ocean.

The next solar eclipse, which is an annular solar eclipse will occur on January 15, 2010.

The path of the said eclipse will pass through extreme southern tips of India.

India’s first unmanned lunar spacecraft, Chandrayaan 1, has sent a probe on to the surface of the Moon.

The probe, painted with the Indian flag, crashed into the Moon’s surface at 2034 (1504 GMT), the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said.

During its controlled plunge, it took readings including measurements of the composition of the Moon’s atmosphere.

The mission is regarded as a major step for India as it seeks to keep pace with other space-faring nations in Asia.

What ever next? Electricity 24 hours a day in New Delhi??? Nah that really would be a goal not able to be reached..!!!!

Mitch Mitchell dies aged 61

Hendrix’s drummer Mitchell dies

The band was one of the most influential of the 1960s

Mitch Mitchell, the British drummer in the seminal 1960s band the Jimi Hendrix Experience, has been found dead in his US hotel room, authorities say.

The 61-year-old was discovered in the Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon, in the early hours of Wednesday.

A medical examiner told Associated Press news agency the death appeared to be from natural causes but that there would be an autopsy.

Hendrix died in 1970 and the band’s bassist Noel Redding died in 2003.

Mitchell, from Ealing in west London, had been touring with the Experience Hendrix Tour.

‘Rock ‘n’ roll hero’

Janie Hendrix, chief executive of the tour and step-sister of Jimi Hendrix, paid tribute to Mitchell.

“He was a wonderful man, a brilliant musician and a true friend,” she said.

He performed on Hendrix classics such as Are You Experienced? Electric Ladyland and Axis: Bold As Love.

The top session drummer also played with the likes of Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Keith Richards and Muddy Waters.

A musical pioneer, he is credited with helping to develop a “fusion” drumming style that combined rock with jazz.

He joined the Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1966 and backed the rocker for his legendary performance at Woodstock three years later.

Bob Merlis, a spokesman for the tour, said his death was “devastating”.

He had seen Mitchell perform two weeks ago in Los Angeles and the drummer appeared healthy and upbeat, he said.

Blues-rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd, who is part of the tour, said Mitchell was to drums what Hendrix was to guitar.

“Today many of us have lost a dear friend, and the world has lost a rock ‘n’ roll hero,” he said.
